Cavitex - Sangley Extension Project

Screen grab from Google Maps
Over the past months I have been noticing reclamation activity along the mangroves area of Cavitex Kawit toll exit. As it took shape of a road running towards Cavite City, it got me more curious. So this is what it says in the DPWH PPP Page:

Cavitex-Sangley Extension

Image from DPWH PPP page

Project Description:
•The project proposal is a viaduct with an approximate length of 4.63 km. via a reclaimed road which intends to connect the Kawit Interchange of Cavitex to Sangley Point of Cavite City and neighboring provinces (Laguna, Batangas, etc.) including Metro Manila. The project will have the following phases:

Project Phases
Length
(km)
1
Kawit Interchange to Bacoor Bay

·   Road
1.46

·   Bridge
0.16
2
Bacoor Bay to Cavite City Interchange

·   Road
0.20

·   Bridge
1.00
3
Cavite City Interchange

·   Road
1.44

·   Bridge
0.37

News articles only mentions the proposal as of April 2018 and I don't see any construction timeline in the DPWH page. It seems the reclamation has almost reached Bacoor Bay and no signs of slowing down.
Hopefully it turn to be a great benefit to commuters and not damage the mangrove forests that grow around the area.

Bakasyunan Resort, Tanay, Rizal

We had an office outing and we were permitted to bring family. Yay! When I saw pictures of the venue online, I was very eager to go. Road trip with my wife and kids, and they enjoyed it. Worth the long drive.

Hidden and Forgotten History Marker

As I was roaming around Kawit back roads today, I noticed an old, unkempt marker on a vacant lot looking oddly out of place. I stopped to take a closer look, and it was an undated commemorative tablet of some sort. It read:

COMMEMORATIVE TABLET TO THE FLAG'S FIRST VICTORY
At Alapan, for the first time, on May 28, 1898, was carried to victory, in baptism of blood and fire, the tri-colored Philippine National Flag. The battle over, the Spanish forces surrendered to the Filipino hosts who saved the Red, White and Blue and raised the "Sun and Stars" to glory.
-- o --
Donated by General Esteban de la Rama, Secretario de Marina in Aguinaldo's cabinet 1898-1899. Presented at the request of Mr. Luis Elba who interested the donor in the significance of this event in our military history.

I hope this marker gets noticed and preserved for future generations to see.

I added the location in Google Maps here.

Trash from the Past!

It's been several months since the last Habagat and flash floods hit Kawit, Cavite, but why on earth is this still here?
Garbage that had been washed out by the storm surge have become a permanent fixture on the road side along Centennial Road near Tramo-Bantayan. Does the local government of Kawit have any plan for this?

Mapping Enthusiast

Google Maps recently launched its official Google Map Maker Community, and there were a lot of responses from Map Maker users around the world. I also noticed that their local Map Maker communities have their own logos, and Map Maker Philippines currently hasn't posted anything yet. Out of spare time, I made one to suggest:

Hopefully fellow mappers would approve.

I've already changed my profile pic... hehehe... would be cool if our friends are okay with it.

Cavite Batangas Transport Terminal Officially Open

As of early today, August 6, 2013, the South West Integrated Provincial Transport Terminal became operational.  Buses coming from Cavite and Batangas through Coastal Road will no longer enter the metro.  Instead, all will be collecting and dropping off passengers at the new terminal, eventually lessening the volume of buses plying Roxas Boulevard and EDSA pooling the provincial buses to one location and preventing colorum buses from operating the route via a new dispatch system.
The location.
