Cavite Batangas Transport Terminal Officially Open

As of early today, August 6, 2013, the South West Integrated Provincial Transport Terminal became operational.  Buses coming from Cavite and Batangas through Coastal Road will no longer enter the metro.  Instead, all will be collecting and dropping off passengers at the new terminal, eventually lessening the volume of buses plying Roxas Boulevard and EDSA pooling the provincial buses to one location and preventing colorum buses from operating the route via a new dispatch system.

Actually, about 4,000+ (approved) edits and 200+ reviews. I'm just happy Map Maker has some way of recognizing contributors to Maps; makes this hobby of mine more satisfying. :-)

Mapping San Juan, Batangas

Since losing my phone and eventually getting it back last June, I haven't had the chance to go back to San Juan, Batangas to try and gather GPS data again. So I looked for other ways to get geo information that I can use to do mapping. I am unable to map directly into Map Maker because Google Maps hasn't updated their satellite imagery of San Juan yet and all you can see is a blur.

Poctol, San Juan, Batangas in OSM

Sadly, my uncle (my dad's eldest brother) passed away last week.My sister and I decided to go and visit over the weekend, having this the only free time we had. Off to San Juan, Batangas.

It's been a while since I was back and I've been wanting to gather GPS data to continue mapping roads in Google Map Maker. Once there, I borrowed a bicycle and started biking around, choosing a portion of the town I haven't been to before. After an hour or so, I have as much data I could gather.

Sunday, before going home, I went on a motorbike to visit some cousins. I then noticed that my phone then slipped out of my pocket and fell onto the road. Data. Gone.

Fortunately, my cousin was a policeman and another was the Barangay Captain there. Pulled some strings and so, I have my phone back again. Not without the phone being interested on by the person who found it.

The phone's been reset, sim card and memory card gone. Goodbye data.

I'll try again someday when I get back there.

The Price of Progress

Before things get better, it will worsen first.

Everyone knows what a pain it is to pass through the portion of EDSA between Heritage Hotel and Taft Ave. I wished there was a way to decongest this clogged part of the metro, and my wish was granted.

A bus rammed the rear end of an SUV at the southbound lane of EDSA Ayala intersection when it failed to stop on the red light. Happened around 6:15am this morning.
